Assumes a constant monthly growth rate compounding each month - a simplified model, not a guarantee. Real growth is uneven and depends on posting consistency and what you publish.
How the time-to-goal estimate works
Reaching a subscriber target under compound growth isn't a straight line - the math works backward from how many times your current count needs to compound by your growth rate to reach the target, then rounds up to the next whole month. A higher growth rate shortens the timeline faster than it might look at first glance, since compounding accelerates.
If your target is below your current count, you've already reached it. If your growth rate is 0%, compounding can't reach a higher target no matter how long you wait - you'd need an actual rate above zero for the math to resolve to a real answer.
Questions
How many months will it take to reach my subscriber goal?
Enter your current subscribers, target, and estimated monthly growth rate above - the calculator works out how many months of compounding at that rate it takes to cross your target.
What if my growth rate is 0%?
At 0% growth, compounding never reaches a higher target no matter how much time passes - the calculator will tell you a real growth rate above zero is needed.
Is this guaranteed to be accurate?
No - it assumes a constant growth rate, which real Substack growth rarely holds exactly. Use it as a planning reference, and recalculate periodically with your actual recent growth rate.
Where do I find my actual monthly growth rate?
Compare your subscriber count now to your count a month ago. NotesIQ tracks this automatically over time by reading your public profile, so you don't have to note it down manually.
